Intake as Plática

The massage studio is in my home. I’ll greet you at the front door and welcome you into my space.

Once settled in the warmly lit studio we start our intake. I hold this initial conversation as sacred – a kind of platica (in curanderismo is a healing heart-to-heart talk) that sets the tone of the session, gives you more insight into who I am, and we find a dynamic that feels safe for both of us.

I’ll ask you some questions about how your body is feeling that day, areas of your body you’d like for us to focus on or avoid, your expectations for the session and I’ll give you some of my ideas on what modalities I can integrate and where, what you can expect to feel and make sure it’s something that sounds interesting, comforting, and productive for you.

Our intake does not take up any of the hands-on time you’ve booked for your massage. It’s important for me as a practitioner given responsibility of caring for you that we have plenty of time to connect and come to a collaborative understanding of how I can show up for you.
