Alex de las Mareas (she/they) is a queer xicane massage therapist, interdisciplinary artist and sexual health educator.

Alex spends their time sleeping with the redwoods, placing their feet into shallow ocean waves, strengthening their connection to mexican cooking and kitchen curanderismo, tending to queer family as a means of creating a loving survival network that outlasts fascism and colonialism, and finding the spiritual healing that comes from shaking ass on a dance floor (while wearing a N95).
Massaging her mama who experienced chronic back pain and needed loving touch daily was her first training in the healing qualities of touch, the tactile intricacies of the body and how it holds tension. These first childhood lessons, the hours spent training in massage school, and the ongoing physical&spiritual education she receives from bodyworkers and healers inform and transform her own offerings as a bodyworker.
Alex has spent the last 20 years working as a sexual health educator with specialties in trauma informed care and communication practices, accessible queer sex, harm reduction and sexual health, sensual exploration, and navigating clinical sexual health settings. As a survivor in doing this work, Alex has collected and honed skills for their own survival and thriving in caring for themselves, their loved ones, and their community. The lessons from this work have flowed effortlessly into Alex’s bodywork practice with a devotion to weaving safety and comfort into the healing that comes from tapping into the vulnerability of receiving touch.
